MLB home run derby

ESPN MLB partnered with Compadre on the 2024 Home Run Derby promo, the centerpiece of All-Star Week in Arlington, Texas. The team built the spot around a concept called "Lone Star," leaning into the idea that baseball is normally a team sport, but the Derby shifts the entire spotlight to individual sluggers. Production traveled to Globe Life Field to capture stadium lights, field details, and hitters isolated under dramatic spotlights, paired with studio work shot with actor and comedian Marcello Hernandez in a striking backlit style. Lasers traced a star outline across the stadium to reinforce the concept end to end.

Standing on the field at Globe Life at night, with the fog and the spotlights hitting, is one of those "this is why we do it" moments.
